Details:
I was observering and photographing these phenomenal northern lights last night during the Kp 8 storm. Around dusk at 10'o'clock bright dots of green light appeared between the clouds in the southeastern sky. A very peculiar sight. Later, the whole northern sky was glowing green, beautiful. Around local midnight I was watching tall vertical pillars of red/pink hues to the north. They stretched all the way up to the big dipper near zenith, what an amazing sight it was! I had some trouble capturing all this with 16 mm on full frame. Photos were taken with my D700. Auroras were observed continuously from 10 in the evening on the 23th, untill 2 in the morning the 24th.
