When the Bz index moved below -20 earlier this evening I kept my fingers crossed that we'd have clear skies for once. From the top of Constitution Hill in Aberystwyth we have a fairly good northern aspect, albeit a bit windy by the sea this evening; early images were generally interesting but unexciting. Around 10 pm the sky suddenly exploded, with rays dancing towards the zenith. It was the best display I've seen since the incomparable events in mid-March 1999 (which I was lucky enough to catch in the UK in the days before the internet). These shots are handheld 17.5 mm lens, f/2, Olympus m43 sensor, 1/3" at ISO25600.
