Details:
The KP Index was 7.7 and as the sun was setting the clouds were starting to roll in as snow was in the forecast. I drove up to a dark spot just a few miles from the house and started shooting. I only had a half hour of shooting before it was fully clouded over. However, in that time the sky was wicked! I could see the Aurora's from horizon to nearly overhead! Once I had the settings on the camera where I wanted, I jumped in the truck to stay warm. That's where the foreground light painting came from. The park lights of the Ford F150 pickup! That was a lucky surprise! Here's the best shots of the evening. Nikon D5600, Samyang 14mm f/2.8, ISO-200, 15 second exposures.
