Details:
Here are two panoramas of the Great Equinox Aurora of March 23, 2023, taken one after the other in the deep twilight as the aurora began to appear already underway in the worldwide storm that night. Each of the two 360° panoramas is presented twice, in two projections: an equirectangular format and a spherical fish-eye format.
Both show a strong magenta arc across the sky but to the south is a pale green band that appears to have horizontal structures characteristic of the recently identified "Dunes" formation of aurora. This was from southern Alberta, Canada at a latitude of 51° N.
Each panoramas is a stitch of 16 segments shot with a 15mm Laowa lens and Canon R6 in portrait orientation.
