Details:
Just after dinner (7:30pm MDT) I noticed on Spaceweather website that activity was picking up. I took a gamble and drove 45 minutes out of the city to a dark sky preserve and sure enough there was a large diffuse auroral arc spanning the northern horizon. Activity came in waves and was still active when I left at Midnight.
