Details:
I observed beautiful aurora from the northernmost point in the United States, Utqiagvik (formerly Barrow), over the frozen sea ice of the Arctic Ocean. The aurora was framed by the iconic Whale Bone Arch on the shore of the frozen ocean. Sony A1, Sony 14mm GM lens at f/1.8, 1-second exposure, ISO 1600. Air temperature was -20°F/-29°C, wind chill was -38°F/-39°C. I also took a series of time lapses, which are visible on my web site at: https://evanzucker.smugmug.com/Photos-by-Date/2023/Alaska-March-1-15-2023/Highlights. Third photo was taken from the window of my hotel 2 blocks from the Arctic Ocean. Final photo was taken from Delta airlines flight from Anchorage to Seattle at 1:19 AM AKDT on March 15, 2023. Sony A1, Sony 24mm GM lens at f/1.4, 1/5-second exposure, ISO 6400.
