After a week of continuous overcast skies, the clouds FINALLY parted to reveal Venus and Jupiter in conjunction! Here on the east coast of northern New South Wales we missed seeing the closet separation between the two celestial beauties, but tonight's pairing was nonetheless spectacular. Fellow Spaceweather.com contributor Noeleen Lowndes and I were eagerly text messaging each other tonight and comparing observations! The colourful backdrop of the dusk twilight sky (courtesy of the lingering volcanic aerosols from the January 2022 eruption of Hunga Tonga, STILL hovering above us fourteen months later) added to the spectacle.
