Hi Tony, finally after a very long wait the universe conspired to produce a stunning geomagnetic storm across N. Ireland last night. After what seemed like years of cloudy skies, CME misses, and generally poor weather the long wait paid off when a CME struck with a Bz of -17 sporting solar wind speeds of over 700km/sec. The resulting aurora was the best I had seen since 2014 with red colours to the naked eye and rays/beams reaching over 50 degrees high. The 1st 1/4 moon couldn't compete with the meandering pillars of light which simply dominated the night sky. This is my favorite image from the night, 15mm wide angle on full frame with just 6 sec's exposure at ISO6400 F/2.8. It was worth the wait!
