Details:
Since the comet has been moving rapidly against the background stars, I did not know how long I could expose while trying to prevent both the comet & the background stars from trailing.
Imaged using an Orion ED80T CF (80 MM, f/6 Carbon-fiber Triplet Apochromatic Refractor),
0.8X Televue Field Flattener / Focal Reducer, ASI2600MC Pro and tracked on a Losmandy G-11 mount; the attached composite shows at left a monochrome screen shot of a 60 second 'live view' taken during the time I was trying to determine the optimum exposure. Deciding that 90 seconds would be about the longest I could go without trailing, at right is a single 90 second frame. Although it is not calibrated (i.e. no darks, flats or flat darks have been applied), it has had the background removed and neutralized, and is stretched a bit using PixInsight; and as shown here the entire composite has been resized down to HD.
Although the clouds moved in quickly I did manage to get about 10 shots (and later the accompanying darks, flats & flat darks), and am looking forward to seeing what I can pull out of the data once it is calibrated & stacked.
