On Christmas Eve a triangular conjunction of the Young (1.5 day old 3 % illuminated) Moon, Venus and Mercury could be observed above Hospital Hill to the WSW of Mutare from first appearance above a retreating colorful volcanic sunset display at 6.44 pm to when the Moon with Earthshine and Mercury to the right disappeared below the horizon in darkness at 7.45 pm. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset and night scenery modes.
