... in its up and coming 2023 evening apparition. It's off to a slow start, though, hugging the horizon for the next month. Mercury keeps it company to the end of the year. There's also a lone star in the picture, sigma Sgr (= Nunki), to the left of Mercury. On Christmas Eve the two planets will be joined by a 2-day-old Moon, and Mercury will be at its highest.
