Details:
A day after the setting sun was photographed ‘rolling’ down the southern slope of Murahwa Mountain near Mutare , a sequence of 36 close-up images of the Sun setting alongside the rocky promontory halfway down the slope was taken and used to produce a x6 speed time-lapse animation and photo montage. Smoke-haze in front of the Sun dimmed it sufficiently to reveal three naked eye sunspots AR3112 group (top), AR 3115 pair (below left) and AR 3111 (below right). Comparison of the position of the setting Sun on the 4th with that on a close-up taken when it was at a similar altitude the previous day (last image) reveals that its path had moved three quarters of its diameter to the left in 24 hours with slight downwards rotation of the sunspots on its surface. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset mode with x50 zoom magnification.
