On Tuesday 27th September the two day old 3.6% illuminated waxing crescent Moon could be seen with difficulty above the glow of a fading smoke-hazed volcanic sunset from first appearance at 6.09 pm until it disappeared into thicker smoke haze above Chikanga Township in darkness half an hour later. Cameras: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 and ZS40 in sunset and manual exposure modes.
