Details:
I went to the Latest Supernova webpage and selected one at random that's not in the Spaceweather gallery. The one I picked turned out to be very nice, including its galaxy! The type Ic supernova 2022jli resides in the NW quadrant of the swirly-looking face-on spiral galaxy NGC 157 in the constellation Cetus. 6 days ago (Aug 16) it was at magnitude 15.7. The star that lies at the tip of the upward-pointing arm is mag 15.5. It and the supernova look quite similar, so it hasn't changed brightness much in the past week (Aug 22).
