Details:
This composite image captures the maximum of Perseids meteor shower captured in the early morning of August 13, 2022.
Due to the presence of the full moon in the sky, relatively short continuous exposures (5 seconds) were taken to not saturate the pictures.
I took more than 1,400 photos between 4:00 and 6:15 local time (2:00 and 4:14 UT) to obtain this final image.
A rectangular format fisheye lens was used with a digital reflex camera that allows capturing from the northern sky with the medieval tower of the village of Sant Llorenç de la Muga (province of Girona, Spain) to almost the southern horizon, where the Moon is shown.
The name of the village ("Sant LLorenç de la Muga"), has significance with the Perseids, since in the Christian world this popular natural phenomenon is known as the "tears of St. Lawrence", which according to legend were the tears shed by the saint when he was tormented on a grill. "Sant Llorenç" means "San Lorenzo" in Catalan language (spoken locally in northeastern Spain) and these days this village celebrates these popular festivities in honor of the saint, which conjugates with the spectacle of the Perseids in the sky.
