Details:
NASA's SOFIA Observatory is on her last trip to New Zealand before being retired. On this trip a new camera system is being tested to get "sidecar" images of the aurora while SOFIA continues her science observations using the 2.5M onboard telescope. Despite a bright moon and relatively weak aurora the new camera system managed to capture a brief outburst of activity at around 9:44pm NZ time.
