Details:
The latest reference I could find says the type Ia supernova was at mag 17.9 this very night, having dropped a magnitude and a half from a month earlier. I wasn't aware I could image much past mag 17.0.

The photo shown here was cropped 90% to 1:1 and the result enlarged about 60% for easier viewability.
