Details:
Since 21 January, when the SO2 plume and stratospheric aerosols from the January 15th eruption of Hunga-Tonga volcano first reached Africa, there have been 121 brightly coloured volcanic sunsets observed from Mutare during the period of 150 days up to the Winter Solstice on 20 June. The accompanying mosaic and animation (which can also be viewed as a slideshow at https://youtu.be/01u9F_wrIWU ) includes the best picture taken on each day that a volcanic sunset display was either directly visible or reflections appeared through cloud. The final image shows how in the past five months the volcanic sunset twilight arches in the displays have followed the path of the Sun from WSW in early February (top) to West at the March Equinox and WNW near the recent June Solstice. Cameras: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 and ZS40 in sunset or manual exposure modes.
