Details:
The accompanying animation and images show the recent Waxing Crescent Moon taken between 5.29 and 5.39 pm each evening in Volcanic Sunset Displays from 1st to 6th of June. The illumination of the Moon increases from 4 to 40 % and its retrograde movement towards the north-east makes it appear higher in the sky and further from the focus of the sunset display each day. The almost uniform distribution of stratospheric aerosols from the massive January 15th eruption of the Hunga-Tonga volcano is responsible for the now regular brightly coloured displays which peak in intensity between 30 & 40 minutes after sunset when normally it would be almost dark. Camera: Hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset mode.
