Details:
Yesterday, when I saw a circumzenithal arc high above my head I immediately knew something weird was going on - the arc was unusually broad. When I looked closely at the pictures I had taken, I noticed that in fact it is a double one! For a moment I thought it might be a 46° halo but the secondary arc is actually following the shape of the CZA instead of curving downwards. The phenomenon was a very short lived one. At 17:20 CEST (15:20 UT) it was a normal CZA, then for the next two minutes it was clearly doubled only to disappear another minute later. The halo reappeared 1.5 hours later - this time it was a normal CZA combined with a supralateral arc and a 46° halo. I vaguely remember reading about such oddities being seen only a few times before but I never imagined seeing one myself!
