Details:
The 1.1-day old Moon was readily spotted low above the western horizon, helped by the steep angle of the ecliptic at this time of year. The Old Moon cradled in the Young Moon's arms was visible in 7x35 binoculars (and the camera). Above it Mercury was just discernible by eye while the Pleiades were too faint. Moonset was very interesting to watch in binoculars as the crescent disappeared, leaving only a ball of Earthshine behind.
