Details:
A first glance through my solar telescope this morning provided a stunning suprise - a huge eruptive prominence - so large, it was almost completely outside the field shown in the GONG observatory images that I consult before setting up my scope. I inserted a camera quickly and caught this remnant of an X-class flare about 30 minutes after it was detected. I've added an earth sized circle to give a sense of scale to this massive beast.
