Details:
While photographing the fabulous display of Auroras on March 30, I noticed the Zodiacal Light apparition was visible in the northwest sky.
Seen here at a very wide field of view ( equivalent to 16mm lens ) from Sirius at left , past Orion and Taurus- Hyades and the Pleiades at right center just after full astronomical twilight had ended.
Exposure was 20 secs. at f/2.8 using a Tokina 11-16mm ATX lens on a Nikon D5300 dslr ... ISO 3200. Original JPEG was post processed in Affinity Photo using Curve adjustment to better highlight the band of gegenschein in the plane of the solar system , and recover detail in the landscape. That's Rattlesnake Mountain in the background. The black polygon in the foreground is the blacktop runway at a small public RC model airport . That site provides an outstanding dark sky portal outside my town of Cody Wyoming USA, well away from light pollution.
