Details:
On Thursday 24th an influx of stratospheric aerosols from the east resulted in incredible volcanic sunrise AND sunset displays. In the early morning the planets Mars, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter were visible above an emerging sunrise twilight arch which then grew in size and intensity until only Venus and Mars remained visible above it. In the evening there was an amazing sunset display with anticrepuscular rays in the east and then magnificent crepuscular rays above a receding twilight arch to the west. It would appear that the stratospheric aerosols from the Hunga-Tonga eruption on January 15th have circumnavigated the Southern Hemisphere (possibly for a second time) to produce renewed spectacular volcanic sunrise and sunset displays. So much material was ejected into the stratosphere by the massive eruption that unusual sunrises and sunsets are likely to continue at intervals for several more months. Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset mode.
