Parhelic circle、22° Circular halo and Circumscribed halo.
On March 16th, I was on the top of the 2300-meter Jhenshan trail near Hsinchu, and I encountered beautiful ice halos near noon! At that time, the altitude of the sun was about 60°. First I saw the 22° circular halo and strong circumscribed halo. Later, I found that there is a white arc outside the 22° halo. If you look closely, it turns out to be a parhelic circle passing through the sun! The parhelic circle is produced when sunlight or moonlight reflects from near vertical faces of ice crystals. Plate, horizontal columns and Parry oriented crystals all make it. The parhelic circle when the sun is at high altitude is a rare phenomenon. These beautiful halos seem to herald the coming of halo season, which is full of anticipation.
