This time of year I am always on high alert for clear moonless skies after sunset as I know this is prime time to catch a glimpse of this magical Zodiacal light. When you see this in a dark location it is one thing, but if you are lucky enough to spot this out over the ocean it is an entirely different thing altogether as with zero light pollution in your way this Zodiacal light really does its magic by shining even brighter. And once you understand that this beam of light is actually interplanet dust illuminated by the sun within the plain of our solar system - well it makes you feel your seeing a little bit more of the bigger picture of the solar system.
