Wow, the solar wind continues to deliver the most beautiful Auroras! Tonight I photographed the most red Auroras since I started doing this 10 years ago! For hours at the beginning of our night, the Bz was strongly in the positive values, until it took a sudden turn to very negative values. It didn't take long for the first Auroras to appear - tonight in the southern half of our sky here at 70°N. And soon after, the brightest red rays appeared on my camera! Full disclosure: the red colour was barely visible to the naked eye as a colour. It appeared bright but mostly white to the naked eye. Only the camera captured the vivid red colour, but still way more than any other Aurora display that I have witnessed in the past decade. What an exceptional night to be outside here in Utsjoki in Finnish Lapland!
