Details:
It was a little less then two days after the eruption. Being out at sea we didn’t know yet about the nature of the eruption. But this sun set caught our attention quite early with the sun being a red dot very early and its tungsten like clouds and odd formation. Way after sunset the growing darkness gave way to a bright tungsten daylight. Everything on the boat became clear bright again. Then it decreased again leaving a colourful display of purple like clouds…. I’ve seen humidity moon hallows before but not a sundog like one under the tropics. It may have been triggered by the plums from the eruption. Excuse the bad Quality of the moondog pic but thought I’d include it for reference anyways. All taken with an iPhone from a moving sailboat on the same evening. We are back in town and it now seems apparent with the information we gathered that it was the “tail” of the SO2 cloud making it’s way north west. Hope you enjoy the beauty of it all. For us sky gazers it was a memorable evening…
