Details:
Thick rainy season cloud just above the horizon late afternoon and early morning has made it difficult to see the January Full Moon from Mutare. On Monday evening the Moon was photographed appearing above cloud obscuring the hilltop in Cecil Kop Nature Reserve from behind which it should have appeared half an hour earlier. The security light illuminated view taken from my back garden at 7.30 pm captures a first glimpse of the Moon accompanied by Procyon (the Little Dog Star) in the constellation Canis Minor (upper right) and the Gemini star Alhena (directly above). The remaining images show it appearing and clearing the layer of cloud that previously obscured it. Camera: Hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset mode.
