Details:
February 27, on the occasion of the full moon which took place, at my latitude, at 9:18 am I chose to record the moon setting over the South East Crater. This morning an occasional degassing activity came out of the craters which is usually a symptom of an impending eruption. During the approach phases to the flank of the South East crater, the Moon crossed an intense area affected by heat exchange to the point that it was possible to witness an effect given by refraction. Generally, this effect can be observed at sea level and on the water and not at an altitude of about 3300 meters. It is an inferior mirage called: Omega. The lower edge of the Moon overturns on the edge of the crater anticipating its crossing. The entire lunar disk is also affected by the mirage, as it appears to be liquefying. Really suggestive to observe a similar mirage close to the volcanic crater. I present two images. Camera: Nikon D7100; 440mm Location: Milo (Etna - Sicily) Day: 27 February 2021 1)Omega moon Composition of 2 shots with the same shot but with two different exposures: -One for the Moon: 1/50 sec; f / 6; ISO 100 One for the crater shortly after the sunset: 30 sec; f / 6 2)Sequence of shots: 440mm; 1/50 Sec; f / 6; ISO 100
