(Partial Enlargement). A good comparison of ISS Canadarm-2 holding robot Dextre, seen from the ground and from space. The ground-based image is a single unprocessed frame taken with a 10 inch Newtonian reflector. Note the marked visible thickening in the arm which is the combined spot consisting of arm-mounted instruments ACU (Arm Computer Unit), Backup drive, PTU (Camera light, Pan/Tilt Unit and VDU (Video Distribution Unit). ISS 2021-09-25 routine observation. Setup: Taken with 10 inch F4,8 Newtonian secondary focus with QHY5 5L-11 camera. Tracking was fully manually using the crosshair method at low magnification on the tracking scope.
