Details:
Twice a year, if the sky is clear in early March and October, the setting Sun, when observed from my viewpoint on Murambi Heights, appears to roll down the southern slope of Murahwa Mountain and sets in the saddle with its adjoining foothill. On Sunday (3rd Oct) unseasonal overcast all day after early morning drizzle made it look like no sunset would be visible. However at 5.24 pm, 15 minutes before sunset, an unexpected hole appeared in the cloud above Murahwa Mountain (first composite) allowing the Sun to shine through it for 5 minutes before closing again. Ten minutes later there was another almost miraculous clearance of cloud adjacent to the lower portion of the mountain slope which allowed the final portion of a rolling sunset to be photographed and recorded on video as shown in the lead x 40 speed timelapse animation and final mosaics. Cameras: 2 tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40’s in sunset mode.
