Details:
My wife and I parked at a reservoir north of High Level and planned to spend the night hoping to see aurora. We saw relatively bright aurora to the north as we arrived during nautical twilight, but by the time we set up our cameras the aurora had faded. Over the next 6 hours the most we saw was a wide dim green glow in the northern sky. At around 4:00 AM MDT, however, the aurora became increasingly active, culminating in by far the brightest aurora display we have ever seen. By the time astronomical twilight was well under way the aurora were appearing all over the sky and stretched horizon to horizon. It was exhilarating!
