Details:
At about 5.30 am on Friday the almost Full Moon was observed descending in the pre-dawn sky and setting behind the summit of Hospital Hill as shown in the accompanying time-lapse animation, still images and mosaic. The sky was clear but hazy with a temperature inversion layer just above the horizon which resulted in slight distortion, deepening of colour and blurring of features as the Moon passed through it. By the time the Moon reached the horizon it was so dim that a sequence of fifty-one 1 second exposures had to be taken to capture and produce the enhanced time-lapse animation and mosaic of it setting. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in manual exposure mode.
