Details:
The eclipsed Sun generating a sun pillar, like an enormous searchlight scanning the sky. Incoming cloud bands and streamers at multiple levels provided the stage. The effect was brief and the Sun cleared the clouds just in time for maximum eclipse. This 1-second ISO1600 exposure was taken with a glass solar filter on a 200mm lens at F5 and Canon 1000D. The filter effectively blocked all city lights but still passed the sunlight reflecting off the Ottawa River.
