There is a problem with the way some GIF’s display in the Realtime Image Gallery which may be related to the size and/or way the originals are generated or may be due to bugs in the engine used by Spaceweather to generate the thumbnail and post page displays! Fortunately the full size versions which can be opened from the pages do display normally. The initial negative impact of faulty thumbnail and page displays is disappointing for contributors as a lot of time and effort is often involved in generating animated GIF’s either from accurately registered still images or video clips. Here are four GIF’s in two sizes of 1080 x 720 and 1080 x 533 pixels of the recent ‘Full Supermoon Rising’ generated using either GIFYCAT at https://ezgif.com/maker or VSW (Video Snapshot Wizard ) purchased from http://www.video-snapshot.com/. In both cases the source material is still images. Video can also be used https://ezgif.com/video-to-gif (which can result in smaller GIF file sizes for multiple frame animations) as was done in my post upload_id=174908 but this has numerous rectangular black artefacts! Unfortunately it is no longer possible to post comments, which may limit the usefulness of this exercise, but the results should speak for themselves.
