Details:
Ephemeral sky watchers. The spectacular red tajinastes (Echium wildpretii) are an endemic species to the island of Tenerife. They can reach up to 3 meters in height. Flowering lasts only 15 days and they only do it once in their life. Tajinaste, comes from the Canarian aborigines and the word Tamazight, which means needle Occasionally some specimens can be found on other islands like these photographed next to the Milky Way at the top of the island of Gran Canaria.
