Details:
On Friday evening Venus was captured setting less than half a kilometre to the north of where the Sun went down twenty minutes earlier. The accompanying time-lapse animation was compiled from frames extracted from a video taken with the camera pointed towards where Venus was guesstimated to be. The after-glow from the setting Sun was so bright and Venus so indistinct that it could not be seen either with the naked eye or in the camera viewfinder. It is only visible in contrast enhanced still images and video frames a selection of which appear here. Camera: Tripod mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS40 in sunset mode.
