Details:
I spent a very cold night between Denali and Broad Pass Alaska during the recent G-2 solar storm. As expected, the solar wind from a passing coronal hole began to pick up near sunset. Shortly afterwards, the Bz spiked northward to near 20 which caused some momentary disappointment. Near sunset, the Bz rapidly dropped to -20 sparking a fast moving and colorful aurora that lasted most of the night.
