Details:
As a powerful cold front was pushing in at sunset, channeling huge amounts of moisture from the Amazon Basin and disturbing the troposphere over Southeastern Brazil, many "staircase patterns" imprinted in clouds suddenly appeared across the sky. Produced by events capable of altering the local balance of energy and mass transfer in the lower atmosphere, such trains of shock waves herald the reaction of gravity trying to restore equilibrium. Although unrelated, but adding to the beauty of the interesting phenomenon, note how the clouds turned rose-colored as the sun was setting as seen from their altitude. A Nikon CoolPix P900 camera was used, at its 10-minute time-lapse video mode, starting at 18:49 (UTC-3h).
