Details:
The weather forecast was looking bad for today when the 2 planets were at their closest (and they got it right) So I was glad I made the most of the clear skies the previous evening. They were still close enough to be seen in the same field of view with my 25mm eyepiece in my Skywatcher Skymax 127 and apart from the Transit of Venus I saw in 2004, will probably be the rarest astronomical event I will see.
I was unable to get a photo through my scope so just took a record shot using my Canon 70D and Sigma 150-600mm lens, it is far from perfect, but I am just happy I got to see this event and at least managed a photo which shows thee oval shape of Saturn, and also the 4 Galilean moons, which are from right to left, Europa and Io (close together to the right of Jupiter) and Ganymede and Callisto to the left.
