Details:
Jupiter and Saturn have been getting closer together each evening for the great conjunction on the 21st. Cloudy weather and rain during the past few days and forecast to persist have obscured the run-up to the conjunction and may prevent the closest approach of the two planets since 1623 from being observed from much of Zimbabwe. This evening (Friday 18th) the weather cleared sufficiently for Jupiter and Saturn, now already very close with the four day old waxing Moon high above, to be photographed from time to time through thin high cloud as darkness approached. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS40 in starry sky and night scenery modes.
