Details:
Almost clear sky with good visibility at dawn on Saturday 14th provided a chance to photograph the very old Moon (26 ½ hours before new) rising in the east behind Cecil Kop Nature Reserve. Unfortunately the Moon, well below Venus and Mercury, was so close to the glare of approaching sunrise that it could not be seen with the naked eye and can only be discerned as a whisker thin crescent in four photographs taken with the camera pointed in the direction of the estimated rise point at 4.39 am. Two minutes later both Moon and Mercury had faded into the brightening sky. Camera: Hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset mode.
