Details:
Although I had seen auroras numerous times in Yorkshire England, this was the only one I managed to photograph on film (100 ASA 6x6 Ektachrome Bronica S2A ) in 2003. At 54 N it stretched right up overhead, was almost all red fringing to yellowish at its base. It was a long exposure, shown by the length of the star trails. I don't remember the exact date. The thing that struck me was the sight of the 'flow' down the pillars of colour (all unfortunaetley merged as a result of the length of exposure).
