In the past years, Brazil is facing an enormous increasing in criminal wildfires across it's territory. Not only Amazon rain forest is in danger, but also the Cerrado and Pantanal are constantly on fire due criminal activities to wipe forests to make cattle pasture, and crops. I'm living in Sao Carlos, a city in the interior of the state of Sao Paulo, and in the last couple weeks several criminal wildfires has emerged in my region, creating enormous amount of smoke that make air uncomfortable to breath and even leaving people in the entire city with watery eyes. More precisely, in the last week, Pantanal (I live around 700 miles from Pantanal) faced it's greatest wildfire event ever, that already burned down more than 12% of its territory, and also killing even big animals on its path (like alligators). Due to the winds, the smoke from this criminal wildfires hit hard the skies of my state (in addition to the smoke from wildfire already in my region). During the last days the entire sky was grayish/brownish, with low horizontal visibility even inside the city. The pictures shows the sun still relatively far from the horizon (more than 10 degrees) several minutes before sunset. On this specific day the entire sky was dark, sun was orangish all day, and several minutes before sunset it was possible to see the entire solar disk without any kind of protection, so I started to take pictures. It is possible to perceive how brown the sky was with clouds of water and smoke. Contrast is the word that describes such beautiful picture and horrendous ambiental condition. The second one, with the birds, is my favorite. Canon SL2 + lens EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5,6 at 250mm f/11, 1/400s, ISO 200.
