On the evening of September 18, 2020, shortly after the public observation evening, I and Martin Fiedler took one of the best images of the planet Mars so far at the Radebeul observatory (A72) in Saxony. The seeing was exceptionally good even for Radebeul! The picture in the telescope is a feast for the eyes. A particularly large number of surface structures could be seen, a well-defined north polar cap and a finely structured south polar cap. Above you can see ACIDALIA PLANITIA, in the middle TERRA MERIDIANI. The HELLAS basin can be seen to the right of the southern polar cap. Above left, CHRYSE PLANITIA, the landing area of VIKING 1. It's crazy what is possible with digital photography these days. For the photo we also used our new, very expensive Great Star ADC (Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector). A fascinating optical device without which the sharpness would not be possible. (HU) 14 inch MN (356/1601), ASI 224 MC, Great Star ADC (Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector)
