Details:
Mars is quickly approaching earth and will be arriving for its closest approach on October 6, 2020. I put together a couple of composite images representing one full rotation Mars taken between August 5th and September 6th. I used a Celestron 14” SCT for all images. The color images were taken with a ZWO ASI290MC camera and the monochrome images were taken with a ZWO ASI290MM camera and a Red 610nm filter. They were all taken at the same image scale so the increase in Mars’ image size is very apparent. South is up on all images as per the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers standard.
