Details:
Last night I went driving early and got on location around 21:00 Hrs. having a premonition that something will happen tonight. And the beginning of the night did not disappoint at all, Steve made his appearance very early around 21:46 Hrs. and the show lasted more than an hour after faded away. All night I was under the impression that the green band which was getting stronger and after that was fading away couple of times, will explode into a burst of lights filling up the sky, did not materialize. The hemispheric power went from heaven to hell to 11GW and I gave myself another half an hour until I was deciding to start driving back home. As soon as I was packing my cameras and loading them inside the car I noticed a glowing and slow moving of the green band, checked the data and every single parameter was increasing in the way supposed to. I started setting up my gear again and what was happening the next half an hour until dawn was the sweetest thing I had so far for 2020, we hit the G1 level and the sky literally exploded into a multitude of shapes and colors with some coronas overhead washed partially by the slowly sunrise… I guess this was a sweet revenge for the full moon who washed away the Steve show hours ago….I can’t find a better way to say goodbye to the month of August other that with this kind of show… Smoky Lake County, Alberta, Canada, Aug 30-Aug 31 2020 - Nikon D850, Sigma 14mm 1.8, ISO 4000, 5000 & 6400, 2 sec exposure, 14mm).
