Details:
The next two worlds that humans will settle were looking down on us . The Half Moon and planet Mars were in conjunction the morning of August 9.
Thanks to high clouds, the neutral density filtration was near perfect to record crater and mare detail on the Moon , embedded in a pool of moving cirrus colors, with Mars bright enough to pierce it.
Nikon D5300 using a Sigma 150-500 APO lens set to requivalent focal length of 675mm ( 13.5 X ). Exposure was 1/80th sec at f/16 metered on brightest part of the Moon at EV -1.0 using ISO 1600
I may have used the camera's built-in HDR exposure mode to captures the full tonal range. The image was post prod in Affinity Photo for minor color and highlight/shadow correction. Noise reduced with Nik DFine . Image size submitted here was reduced to 2048 pixels wide from 6000 for publication.
