Details:
I have recently taken an image that I thought I would share with you as it is somewhat unique, as I have not seen an image of the comet like this yet.
In the attached image, I captured Barnegat Lighthouse, a.k.a. ‘Old Barney’ on Long Beach Island in the town of Barnegat Light, NJ. Flanking Old Barney is Comet NEOWISE. However, a discerning eye will notice a train of SpaceX Starlink satellites in between the lighthouse and the comet. While these satellites were not visible when I took the image (the comet was very elusive as well in the light pollution of the Jersey shore), the camera captured them in this 6 second exposure (Nikon D850, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8, 70mm f/2.8, ISO-1600). Upon discovering them while editing the images, a review of the Starlink data at Heavens-Above.com showed me the details of the objects. The image was taken on July 19th at 10:01pm EDT.
I know you must be inundated with Comet images, but given the added bonus of the Starlink objects, I was hoping it would shed some light on the current issues being discussed regarding the satellites showing up in sky images. While sometimes an issue for deep sky observations, it also adds an unexpected surprise for recreational sky watchers……
